Outstanding Service to Military Children Recognized at National Training Seminar

Military Child Education Coalition® salutes partnerships between military installations, school districts, colleges, and universities serving military children.

HARKER HEIGHTS – The Military Child Education Coalition® (MCEC®)announced the 2019 recipients of the Lieutenant General (Retired) H.G. “Pete” Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award™ at its 21st National Training Seminar in Washington, DC.  MCEC is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring quality educational opportunities for all military and veteran-connected children affected by mobility, transition, deployments and family separation.

The annual award encourages and applauds the outstanding partnerships formed between military installations and school districts that serve military children.  Selected from schools and military installations around the world, the winning partnerships celebrate the military child in exceptional and sustainable ways.

“The Military Child Education Coalition proudly salutes the remarkable difference that these schools, military installations, communities and states are making in the lives of military and veteran-connected children,” said Dr. Mary Keller, MCEC President and Chief Executive Officer.  “By collaborating authentically in unique and innovative ways, these military, education, corporate and policy leaders, exemplify the power and promise of partnerships.”

2019 Recognized Individual Project/Program Award:  Sustainable Environment Month – Fort Hood, Killeen Independent School District, Gatesville Independent School District, City of Killeen, City of Gatesville, and Haynes Elementary School (Killeen ISD) - Texas

Created in 2004, the Lieutenant General (Retired) H.G. “Pete” Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award™ recognizes the work of former MCEC Chairman Lieutenant General (Ret.) Pete Taylor in assisting military children.  The award encourages the sharing of lessons learned and recognizes the long-held belief of General Taylor that “goodness starts at the local level.”

The Military Child Education Coalition serves the children of those who serve us all and encourages efforts that strengthen our military children and ensure opportunities for their quality education.
